On Thursday night, as the lights dimmed inside The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, little luna graced the stage in her iconic bell bottoms, bathed in the soft glow of her signature moon. The atmosphere was electric, setting the stage for a night that promised to be unforgettable. The sold-out crowd gathered in tight, buzzing with excitement, many donning her signature merch.
little luna’s music is rooted in the celebration of authenticity, and that message rang loud and clear from the first note of “last time.” She opened the night by shedding old expectations, proclaiming, “I always thought I had to talk like this, I had to walk like that — but now I won’t.” With this being a hometown show, she made space for connection, dedicating “to love you” to the familiar faces in the crowd — many of whom first saw her open for 5 Seconds of Summer or MAX and who were now singing back every word by heart.
She then pulled out her stool and invited the crowd into a more intimate moment, performing her heartfelt tribute to the great John Lennon with her song "lennon". The room softened, wrapped in quiet connection — but only for a moment. Soon after, it was time to turn things up. For those who might not yet know her music, she launched into a cover of Harry Styles’ “As It Was,” her joyful energy radiating across the room. Her dancing was infectious, and before long, everyone was clapping along, completely caught up in the moment.
If there’s one thing to know about little luna, it’s that her presence is captivating and her voice — raw and radiant — shines even brighter live than on record. That truth hit with full force during “under the wave,” her vocals stretching wide and deep with emotion. The crowd’s energy swelled once again as we all found catharsis in “thief,” echoing her lyrics with full volume: “You took so much, I needed therapy, you’re more than a thief, more than a thief.”
We danced through favorites like “roads” and “told me,” the crowd buzzing with energy and joy, until the night took a tender turn with an unreleased song titled “terre haute,” dedicated to her late aunt. Though the track isn’t out yet she felt in her gut it had to be part of this tour. That moment hit me hard — I was blinking back tears. But that’s the magic of live music: it makes you move, it makes you feel, and when it does both, you know you’ve witnessed something truly special.
As her set drew to a close, little luna saved some of her most powerful moments for last. She delivered “wildflower woman” from her recent EP — a track inspired by the quiet resilience of wildflowers, which bloom beautifully even in the harshest conditions. It’s a reminder of the strength in softness, something we can all aspire to in a world that’s often unkind. “I’m a wildflower in my heart, it’s who I am, it’s what I want, and I’ll call anywhere, I’ll call anywhere home.”
Finally, we danced it all out with “9 lives,” the perfect closer. little luna’s joy was infectious, her smile wide as she twirled and moved across the stage — clearly living her truth and loving every second of it. The crowd matched her energy step for step, completely immersed in the moment.
To see little luna live is to be wrapped in a kind of gentle power — a space where you’re encouraged to be soft, strong, free, and fully yourself. Whether it’s your first show or your fiftieth, her presence fills the room like a warm embrace, leaving you lighter than you were when you walked in.
As her run with Austin Giorgio comes to a close, we’re already hoping this is just the beginning — here’s to manifesting a little luna headlining tour and more new music in the near future.
