Lucy Dacus is Getting Intimate on First Solo Album in Four Years, 'Forever is a Feeling'

Following her massive success with Boygenius over the last few years, Lucy Dacus is officially making her return to her solo career. Her fourth LP, and first in four years, Forever is a Feeling, will be released March 28. The album sees Dacus leaning into all sides of her deepest emotions, which are foreshadowed by not one, but two pre-released singles. 'Ankles' is a fleshed-out, renaissance soft-rock ballad, while 'Limerance' can truly only be described as angelic.

To illustrate the artistic direction of the project, Dacus has now unveiled the cover artwork and as well as the video for the project's lead single, 'Ankles.' The themes of Forever is a Feeling fall somewhere between beautiful fantasies and the bravery required to embrace the darker side of love. The cover artwork, painted by visual artist Will St. John, is a balance of sensuous and poignant. It captures the more adult tones of the album, leaning more romantic and ethereal than her previous solo album, Home Video.

When describing what inspired the project during it's composition from 2022 through 2024, Lucy Dacus illustrated the project as being about “Falling in love, falling out of love… You have to destroy things in order to create things. And I did destroy a really beautiful life.” Dacus also unveiled the tracklisting for Forever is a Feeling, featuring names like Hozier, Blake Mills, and Boygenius bandmates Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker.

Dacus will take Forever is a Feeling on the road this spring, with newly announced dates of the Forever is a Feeling Tour. Presave/preorder Forever is a Feeling here.
